چکیده

We consider the evolution of N bosons interacting with a repulsive short range pair potential in three dimensions. The potential is scaled according to the Gross-Pitaevskii scaling, i.e. it is given by NV (N(xi−xj)). We monitor the behavior of the solution to the N -particle Schrödinger equation in a spatial window where two particles are close to each other. We prove that within this window a short scale interparticle structure emerges dynamically. The local correlation between the particles is given by the two-body zero energy scattering mode. This is the characteristic structure that was expected to form within a very short initial time layer and to persist for all later times, on the basis of the validity of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation for the evolution of the Bose-Einstein condensate. The zero energy scattering mode emerges after an initial time layer where all higher energy modes disperse out of the spatial window. We can prove the persistence of this structure up to sufficiently small times before three-particle correlations could develop.

BOSE-EINSTEIN CORRELATIONS IN PION PRODUCTION AT TRISTAN

Measurement of Bose-Einstein correlations in the production of like-signed pion pairs has been made with the AMY detector at TRISTAN. An event sample of 10120 hadronic events with ranging between 50 to 61 GeV was used. These measurements indicate a strength of the enhancement of ? = 0.61M.07, with a typical correlation size of Ro = 1.16±.08 fm. This value of ? is consistent with measurem...

Bose-Einstein condensation from a rotating thermal cloud: Vortex nucleation and lattice formation

We develop a stochastic Gross-Pitaveskii theory suitable for the study of Bose-Einstein condensation in a rotating dilute Bose gas. The theory is used to model the dynamical and equilibrium properties of a rapidly rotating Bose gas quenched through the critical point for condensation, as in the experiment of Haljan et al. #Phys. Rev. Lett. 87, 210403 !2001"$. In contrast to stirring a vortex-fr...

Dynamical instability of a rotating dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate.

We analyze the hydrodynamic solutions for a dilute Bose-Einstein condensate with long-range dipolar interactions in a rotating, elliptical harmonic trap. The static solutions and their regimes of dynamical instability vary nontrivially with the strength of the dipolar interactions. We comprehensively map out this behavior, and, in particular, examine the experimental routes toward unstable dyna...

Long-range correlations of density in a Bose-Einstein condensate expanding in a random potential.

We study correlations of atomic density in a weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensate, expanding diffusively in a random potential. We show that these correlations are long range and that they are strongly enhanced at long times. The density at distant points exhibits negative correlations.
